In The Spotlights Cultivating Profits – Presented at APAN 59 in Yokohama, Japan
BSCS Students from the NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS), Mujtaba Shafqat, Hina Naeem, and Abdullah Riaz, proudly represented their Final Year Project (FYP) titled Cultivating Profits: AI-Powered Smart Agricultural Finance Tracker and Recommendation System for Farmers at the APAN 59 Conference held in Yokohama, Japan. Hina Naeem was awarded a prestigious fellowship to attend the conference, where she presented their innovative work on an international stage.
The project was supervised by Dr. Muhammad Moazam Fraz and Dr. Fahad Satti, focuses on leveraging Artificial Intelligence—particularly machine learning and reinforcement learning—to assist farmers in making data-driven financial decisions to improve crop planning and maximize profitability.
The FYP addresses key challenges in Pakistan’s agricultural sector by analyzing historical expense and revenue data to recommend optimized farming strategies. The system evaluates inputs such as labor, seeds, fertilizers, and machinery costs, offering tailored insights to help farmers increase their financial returns.
The team’s presentation at APAN 59 not only showcased the impact of AI in agriculture but also reflected the high standard of research and innovation fostered at SEECS. Their achievement highlights the global relevance of student-led research in addressing real-world challenges.
