In The Spotlights NUST-SEECS Students Shine on the Global Stage: 3rd Place at Hack-Nation’s Global AI Hackathon!

We are proud to announce that our very own Uswa Khan and Muhammad Abdullah Waqar, Computer Science students from Batch 2023, have secured 3rd Place Globally in the Fulcrum Science Challenge at the 5th Hack-Nation Global AI Hackathon.

This prestigious event brought together exceptional talent from around the world. Out of 5,500+ global applications, only 2,000 developers were selected to compete across 65+ countries, placing our students among brilliant participants from leading institutions such as Stanford, MIT, and other major global universities.

Adding to the scale and prestige of the competition, the hackathon was broadcast live across major global tech and academic centers. The event was streamed to innovation hubs at renowned institutions including MIT, Stanford, universities in Munich, and others, showcasing our students’ hard work, technical expertise, and innovation to a worldwide audience of tech leaders and peers.

The Project: LabMind AI

For their challenge, the team engineered LabMind AI, a complete, full-stack AI pipeline designed to address a major operational bottleneck in research: experiment scoping. LabMind AI compresses weeks of planning into minutes by converting raw scientific hypotheses into fully costed, lab-ready experiment plans.

The team also received personal congratulations from tech visionary Jack Dorsey, CEO of Square and Co-founder of Twitter.

This remarkable achievement is a proud reminder that NUST-SEECS students are consistently at the forefront of technological innovation. Our students continue to contribute actively to the international tech ecosystem, proving time and again that their engineering acumen, resilience, and problem-solving skills are on par with the very best in the world.

This success also reflects the conducive academic and innovation-driven environment provided by SEECS, where students are encouraged to think creatively, solve real-world problems, pursue excellence, and transform ambitious ideas into impactful technological solutions.

Furthermore, the project has now been featured on the official website of the Hack Nation Global AI Hackathon and is also listed on the winner’s dashboard. For reference, the relevant links are included below:
