NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS) library is the state of the art library in the areas of electronic engineering, communication system engineering and information technology. It has established it repute in the student community by providing excellent services and facilities to fulfill information needs of its readers. The library is equipped with the latest computers to access the digital library of more than 23000 research journals. It has a collection of over 10,000 volumes in the area of databases, networking, e-commerce, object-oriented programming, data communications, circuit analysis, antennas, digital signal processing, microwave engineering, wireless communications, satellite communications, fiber optic communications, mobile communications, digital design, control systems, maths, physics, chemistry, management, Islam, Urdu and English fiction,etc.

SERVICES

LOANS

All registered users are entitled to borrow books. Lending privileges differ for various categories. Please enquire at the Circulation desk. To borrow books, please give your library membership page no at the Circulation desk.

REFERENCE SERVICES

Trained and highly qualified staff is available to give reference services from all online research databases. User may make queries by telephone, and e-mail
(library@seecs.edu.pk ).

CD-ROM DATA BASES

The IEEE/IEE Electronic library 3.0, which is a comprehensive collection of IEEE/IEE transactions, journals, magazines, and conference proceedings published since 1988 and current standards, are available on DVDs, and the same facility is also available over LAN. CDS on different subject of Virtual University are available for consultation and reference.

SEARCHING ASSISTANCE

In case an item is not located on the shelf, inquiry can be made at the Circulation Desk. A search will then be initiated and the user will be notified when the item is located. The located item will be held at the Circulation Desk for two days for the user to pick up.

INTER-LIBRARY LOAN

Need a journal article or book that the NUST-SEECS Libraries don't own? Fill out a request form and we will retrieve the item(s) for you within a week. NUST Constituent Colleges, GIKI, and Ripah University are participating in this service.

SUGGEST A BOOK

NUST-SEECS Library welcomes suggestions from faculty and students, for the acquisition of materials that support teaching, study, and research at the Institute. Know of a book the NUST-SEECS Library should own? Fill out our "suggest a purchase" form and we will generally purchase the book. We put a rush order on it, and notify you when it has arrived so you can be the first to use it!

Before you make a request for purchase, please check our catalog, to be sure that the item is not already available in the NUST-SEECS' collection.

BRITISH LIBRARY DOCUMENT SUPPLY CENTER (http://www.bl.uk)

This Research document supply service is also available for all students and faculty at NUST-SEECS library. All those research publications, which are not available in the NUST-SEECS digital library, can be arranged for readers, free of cost. The Reader will send his request, by writing the exact title, author, publisher etc, of the required article to library@niit.edu.pk .The same request will be forwarded to HEC, through HQ NUST. The reader will be informed formally, when his requested publication will be received.

USER EDUCATION

The library staff gives a wide range of presentations to each class, to enable users to use the library to its maxim potential. These presentations educate users on the use of different online databases for literature searching. Presentations for small groups can be arranged on request.

PHOTOCOPY SERVICES

Photocopy facility is available on cash payment, for readers to make copies from Text and Reference books, because these books are not being issued.

RESOURCES

The books and other reading materials are put into various sections according to the specific nature of the collections. These are identified by their relevant collection designations on the spines of the books and shelves. Library uses Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme to classify and shelve its knowledge resources. It starts from 000 and goes to 999 in decimal order.

GENERAL COLLECTION

This is the main collection comprising highly quality books related to NUST-SEECS academic programs. The major areas are information technology, communications system engineering, electronics engineering, basic sciences, language & literature, fiction, management, physics, chemistry etc.

REFERENCE COLLECTION

A significant number of print and electronic reference sources are available on reference shelves.

RESEARCH MATERIALS

In order to fulfill the very intensive research needs of its users, the library collects research papers to its users.

PERIODICAL COLLECTION

The library has been subscribing 45 international journals and magazines, ranges from engineering to management sciences. A complete list is available at the library website. The current issues are displayed on racks which are reserved for periodicals, and the back issues are bounded and shelved separately.

PRESS CLIPPING

The library is maintaining archive of newspapers and press clipping about IT and NUST News, from The News, Dawn and The Nation.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES

The library has access to a wide range of electronic resources accessible through the campus wide network and from the library terminals.
