Legal or Illegal? SEECS students develop a wearable band to test bowling actions
As part of a semester project in the fifth semester, the team of Abdullah Ahmed, Jazib Khan and Muhammad Asawal under the supervision of Dr. Hammad Cheema have developed a wearable arm band to identify the legality of bowling actions in real-time.
The low-cost solution is ideal for early detection of suspect actions at local cricket clubs, academies and elsewhere. The arm-band equipped with special sensors, sends the flex-angle reading to a smart phone app through a state-of-the-art BLE 4.0 module.
The team is motivated to convert their prototype into a product that will be first of its kind in the cricketing world.
