Harvard University South Asia Institute (SAI) conducted its first ever Crossroads Summer Program this year in Dubai from August 11-14 at the DIFC Academy of the Dubai International Financial Center. This crossroads summer program was a fully-funded career development opportunity for students from the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and Africa. A total of approximately 50 students out of a pool of 4000 applicants were selected to attend this prestigious program. Leading Harvard faculty including names like Prof. Karim R. Lakhani, Kristen Fabbe and Tarun Khanna taught an intensive, multidisciplinary four-day curriculum. The applicants went through a 2 stage process as part of the selection procedure of this program. In the first stage, each applicant wroteapersonal statement and arranged for2recommendation letters to be sent to the program coordinators. After passing through this initial stage, Skype interviews of the shortlisted candidates were conducted, and the best of them were invited to attend the program. Two students from SEECS, Abrar-Ul-Haq of BEE-8B and Noor-ul-Huda of BEE-7B were among the selected, and they travelled to Dubai to be a part of this program. They engaged with professionals and social leaders and attended insightful sessions by the Harvard professors.
