Visit of Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns
Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns, head of the robotics research at TU Kaiserslautern (TUKL), Germany and the previous Dean of the department of computer science at TUKL visited SEECS-NUST on 21st October, 2015, to explore short-term and long-term joint research activities in the form of joint research proposals as well as supervision of MS Thesis / FYP students. Principal SEECS-NUST, Dr. S. M. Hassan Zaidi welcomed the distinguished guests and briefed them about the functioning of SEECS, sharing the details of its remarkable growth in a relatively shorter span of time. Dr. Berns was pleased to know the success stories as well as the valuable contribution made by SEECS in research and academics.
The visit included interaction with SEECS faculty, discussion about possible joint projects and proposal ideas, interview of FDP candidates for admission in TUKL and interaction with students and researchers at TUKL-NUST Research and Development Center.
Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns discussed about "Off road robotics - perception and navigation", center for commercial vehicles technology and their research groups i.e. Humanoid robot, off road service robot and wheeled service robot.
The guest paid a visit to Labs. He appreciated the high profile projects done by SEECS and its outstanding contribution in educational research in Pakistan. He assured of his full support for a meaningful partnership and collaboration with SEECS in future. The guest was presented with a shield and was invited for a group photo, followed by seeing-off.
