International Interns under IAESTE Chapter for the year 2013-2014
I am completing my IAESTE internship period today. It has been a great experience with you, and my Pakistani friends here. So, I want to share some of my experiences and my thoughts.
Firstly, I must say that when I was offered that position by my university, I talked about it to many people and almost everybody asked “Will you go, really?” I did some research about this country and read the recent news about Pakistan. For me, it seemed something not to be so prejudiced about, actually. When I accepted, I had just a little encouragement from my teachers, closest friends, and people who had been to other Asian countries but many warnings from other people, and my family supported me just because I wanted to come here.
I visited many places like LokVirsa, Pakistan Monument, Rawal Dam, Monal, Damn –e- Koh, Centaurus, Islamabad Club, Khewra Salt Mines, Saidpur Village, Lake View Park. I tried rock climbing for the first time in my life and I loved it. I have been to Lahore city. I saw Minar e Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, Shahi Qila, Data Darbar, Sozo Water Park, and the ceremony of removing flag at Wagha Border. After visiting Lahore, I am much more interested in history now, and I will follow the news about Pakistan, India, Egypt, and Palestine much deeper, thanks to my international experiences here.
I wish I could spend more time in Pakistan to see the other cities and the Northern areas. Thank you for all your efforts and your enthusiasm for making our time good here. It was an unforgettable month to spend here with you, IAESTE-NUST Team, and my Pakistani and international friends. Hope to see you all, again.
