HONET-ICT Conference 2018 (Day-1)

HONET-ICT, 2018 international conference was inaugurated today at the beautiful Jinah Auditorium of NUST. High Capacity Optical Networks and Enabling Technologies (HONET) is a prestigious international forum that holds its sessions annually at different locations around the world. This year the conference is being hosted by NUST-SEECS and the theme selected is ‘Improving Quality of Life in Smart Cities Using ICT and IOT”.
The day started with the inaugural ceremony. The session started with recitation of the Holy Qur'an. The keynote talks were given by conference general chair Dr Syed Mohammad Hassan Zaidi, Principal SEECS and International chair Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahidehpour of Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. The session was attended by a number of national and international guests. After the tea/ coffee break, a session was held on UAVs as a Service (UaaS) for Wireless Networks by Prof. Dr. Ahmed E. Kamal, Iowa State University, USA. The Pro Rector NUST, Dr Nassar Ikraam also graced the event as Chief Guest. The Plenary session on Next Generation Higher Education: Prospects and Challenges in the Connected World started after lunch break at 2 PM. Keynote talks were delivered by Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and IT, Dr. Muhammad Ayyub Alvi Rector FAST-NU, Lahore, Dr Syed Muhammad Hassan Zaidi, Dr. Muhammad Manshad Satti, CEO IT Butler and Mr Muazzam Khatak, Conference Chair. The Industry Exhibition was joined by teams from Teradata, Nayatel, EduServ and several other leading companies.”
The conference will conclude on Wednesday, 10th October.
