About the Symposium

This symposium offers once in a lifetime opportunity in Pakistan to study Nonlinear Control systems by none other than Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil (Michigan State University, USA), who is the most renowned and celebrated professor of nonlinear control systems worldwide.

As you know that all the physical systems in the universe are nonlinear in nature. Hence, this course is aimed to provide the professional engineers (with a background in electrical/electronics/mechanical/ aerospace /industrial/ manufacturing engineering) a comprehensive treatment of the nonlinear control systems, which so often arise in the applications of engineering interest by Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil.

Course Syllabus
  • Introduction to Nonlinear Control – Preliminary
  • Time invariant, time varying and perturbed systems.
  • Passivity based control.
  • State-feedback stabilization.
  • Back-stepping and sliding mode control.
  • Observers- High Gain Observers.
  • Tracking – Minimum Phase Systems, Robust Tracking.
  • Regulation, Integral control.

Course Completion Certificates (Signed by Dr. Hassan Khalil) will be awarded to all Participants.

About the Instructor

Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil is a name that needs no introduction specifically in Control System’s Community. He is currently a University Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Michigan State University. He is the most renowned and celebrated professor of nonlinear control systems worldwide. He has hundreds of research publications having thousands of citations. e.g: His books have citations of more than 35000, which include Nonlinear Control (Pearson, 2015), Nonlinear Systems (3rd Ed., Prentice Hall, 2002) and Singular Perturbation Methods in Control: Analysis and Design (SIAM, 1999). Prof. Dr. Hassan Khalil is also a fellow of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). His principal research interests are robust and adaptive control of nonlinear systems, singular perturbation methods in control.
